THE LAST ONE

366 photos in 366 days. I can't believe its over. I'm really sad. I loved doing this. I loved reading the comments. I loved forming a picture in my mind and trying to recreate it. I loved making a new and incredible friend. Gemma, I learned so much from you - thank you.
I thought a sunset might be a good way to end.
Happy New Year. I hope 2013 finds us all happy and healthy.

The end!

The last post.  I thought I would be so thrilled when it was over but I have been staring at my computer screen for over thirty minutes trying to muster up the courage to post the last photo.  I don't think I want it to end.
This post is dedicated to Olivia and Carly.  Because of them I got to meet Kim and from that meeting this project came about.
The snow made me think of Kim and Carly.  The lobster made me think of Olivia.  She
used to order lobster whenever it was on the menu (especially if someone else was paying!), so we will be eating that tonight and raising a glass in her name.

In loving memory Olivia Marie Saylor.  July 31, 1989-January 1, 2011.

YELLOW

Yellow tulips in December. Bought them for the picture but I'm happy to keep them on the kitchen window to cheer me up.  I'm going to miss this.

Yellow

Bump.  Reality.  Cold, snow and yellow caution tape...
Our penultimate post.  Can't believe it.

YARD WORK

A whale of a topiary :)
There is a spout on the top too that I wish showed up in the picture.

Yard Work

I know. I know.  It's a tough life.  This is the closest thing to yardwork that I could find... on the 16th floor... Had a great girls weekend in Miami but didn't exactly get out much!

WINTER

Dare I say, we were at Lowe's today, looking at appliances for the lake house and I saw these all lined up like sentries. You know that if you buy a snow blower it won't snow (so I was hoping no one would get one).

Winter

Well this is winter in Miami....

WHITE

Found some peeling paint and a white doorknob on my travels.

White

Doesn't look like there is much chance of a white Christmas here.  But there is plenty of white Christmas cake.   This particular cake is drenched in alcohol and is moist, yummy and perfect.  It has been "fermenting" since september.  Thanks Mum.

2013.... Project 52!

So, with only a few days left of our Project 366, we have finally figured out what we are going to do next year.  We can't handle a picture a day but we think we can do one a week!  That makes it Project 52!  A couple of you have already said you want to take part.  As far as we are concerned... the more, the merrier. If you want to take part, email us at kimandgemma@gmail.com  and we will be sending out an email with the themes, "rules" and instructions on how to post pictures on the blog.  It starts on the 1st of January.  Are you in??

WHEELS

Biking today in the wind and cold, I found the kind of wheels I love.

Wheels

I saw these old wheels on my way home.  I made sure my car wheels were in the background.  Wheels, Wheels and Wheels.

What is that?

Hopefully when you look at this picture you will think "What is that?" and then I will have accomplished my theme for the day.

WHAT IS THAT?

Left after Hurricane Sandy.

Wet

I arrived at the gym (yes, the gym!!) and it was a torrential downpour.  While I waited in the car to see if it would stop (and to consider if maybe this was a sign I shouldn't be at the gym) I took a picture.  When I left the gym the rain had stopped so I took the same picture again.  Here is the before and after.  Obviously the only difference is that I was 5lbs lighter when I took the second one.  #delusional

WET

While waiting for my truck to warm up this morning, I saw this through the mudroom window.

WEATHERED

This is how bad my eyesight is. When I rode my bike past this sign, I stopped , looked and thought it said "Playing Ground". It is a lot between two houses in the middle of Bellport and I thought it was a sort of communal playground. But then I looked closer and its an old cemetery. There are a few flat markers but most are so overgrown that you cannot see the words. Wish I knew more about it.

Weathered

This pumpkin just weathered a crazy squirrel storm.  I managed to get a picture of the squirrel in action but it just wasn't very good.  And yes, I DO realize that we should have thrown this pumpkin in the trash at least a month ago.  We are a little slow around here some days...

Wealth

Material wealth is all relative:  To Bill Gates this is nothing.  To Charlotte... this is the world!

WEALTH

The best things in life aren't things.

When my kids were little they would ask us if we were rich. I always answered: "We are the richest people in the world because we have each other."

WARPED

A pump house. I think the weather got to this too.

Warped

Outside Charlotte's school they have old buoys hanging off a tree.  This one has clearly been warped by the weather over the years.

Warm

Today was our second annual holiday get-together with the neighbours.  That's right.  We invite the people on our street into our home.  We started it last year because we realized after Hurricane Irene we actually should probably get to know the people around us and it has continued because guess what?  The neighbours love it!  We serve american food/drinks (cookies and hot chocolate) and English (mulled wine and mince pies).  Here is the mulled wine being stirred over the stove.  Tip: make more than you think you need!

WARM

Toasty on a damp evening.

Vehicle

I didn't notice a sign that said "No trespassing" but that might just be a technicality at this point.  Way preferred this image in black and white.  Funny how sometimes colour does nothing for a picture at all.

VEHICLE

I'm posting two pictures today because I found the most interesting vehicle and trying to describe it will only work in pictures. We are building a house on Lake George and redoing the existing boathouse. The man doing the boathouse is doing it alone and he uses this hand cart to bring the logs down to the water. He tells me the big ones are about 170lbs each and this rickety, old cart is what he uses. There are nails on the slats going across to grip the logs and he can turn each wheel independently like a wheelchair if he gets in a pinch. We think he should patent this. The funny thing is, the cart is light as a feather.

These are just some of the logs he is moving, by himself, with this old cart.

VEGETABLE

Ornamental cabbage - an inedible vegetable.

Vegetable

My beloved broccoli.  I just love it.  I could eat this every day.  I thought it tasted yummy when I just steamed it and added a little salt but one fine day Luisa introduced me to roasted broccoli.  Perfection.  Easiest yummiest dish ever.  I swear it will make a broccoli lover out of almost anyone.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day in December?  That reminds me why this theme list was not made to be alphabetical...

VALENTINE'S DAY

In December? I had to go shopping for this stamp. The things we do for the 365!

UNIQUE CAMERA ANGLE

Unique Camera Angle

I decided to take a picture of the swing set from the ground looking up.  As I was fiddling around on the ground (in the rain...) the cat decided to walk along the monkey bars.  sweet.  Lucky

Union

Union Jack coasters!  With the Christmas tree lights sparkling beyond.

UNION

Today I tried to take a photo of a union that was striking with one of those great big blow up rats. Apparently they don't picket on the weekend - only during the week. We ended up in Target getting picture frames and I stumbled upon this.

Unforgettable

I may have mentioned that we have a thing for elephants.  I couldn't get them out of my mind all day for this theme.  I guess if they never forget, then everything is unforgettable for them?  Well, this elephant is very special.  My mum had them made for our rehearsal dinner and on the underside of his belly it has our names and wedding date.  In the background I have the front page of London's Daily Telegraph the day after Mo Farah won the 5000m at London 2012.   I will NEVER forget the emotion of hearing hundred of thousands of people all roaring for him to win.  Amazing.
